Training Schedule and Session Information

Try any of our workouts by attending any one of our spin or swim practices.  A MacDonald Island Park membership is not needed. Please arrive 15 minutes early and introduce yourself to the instructor, our members will show you around and help you get set up for the workout. While single sessions are open for trial we also offer periodic two-week introductory sessions throughout the year as a free trial.

Choose your participation level - many of our members only join us to practice one of the disciplines. Members do not need to be triathletes, don’t need to have plans to race or even have any experience in triathlon.

Spin training meets on the upper floor of MacDonald Island, by the running track. Participants will need running shoes and a water bottle. Cycling shorts and a sweat towel are recommended. Workouts are set for all spin sessions. Workouts are based on power zones, allowing each participant to workout at their own level. Power zones are determined monthly at a time trial but workouts can still be done without having completed a trial. No prior spin or cycling experience is needed.

Swim training meets on the pool deck, close to the adult hot tub. Swimmers should bring their swimsuit, goggles, swim cap and water bottle. All other training tools are provided. Please message us for locker room codes or ask at the front desk. Workouts are set on Tuesdays and Thursdays and divided into four classes, labelled A-D. Swimmers choose the workout class that works for them and sort into the appropriate lane. First time swimmers should be able to swim 25 metres unaided. Sunday swim sessions are open for the swimmer to do their own workout.
